I have always been inspired by the black and white photography of Ansel Adams. I have focused more attention on b&w and monochrome over the past year. People ask me if I photoshop the tones in my images.... my tones are adjusted in camera. Some may ask why or even think it is easier to manipulate the image in the post process. Maybe....

If any of you have not had a chance to check out thisisfly Online Fly Fishing Magazine, be sure to take a visit! You will not be disappointed!
I had the opportunity to work closely with a great friend, fly fisher and photographer, Brett Colvin. We collaborated on an article in the July issue of ThisIsFly. The topic is on Photography and how to avoid the "Grip & Grins". Let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy the photography and article. There is a lot of information packed into the article in just a few pages but I feel it will help anyone out that is interested in taking better photographs.

Fly Fishing Southern Utah - Putting In Work
There was no better way to celebrate the 4th of July weekend...
Colvin and I hit the 4x4 trails of Southern Utah. It was the best fishing trip I have ever had. A memory that will be remembered for a long time. It is hard for me to try and find words that describe the wonderful time that I had fly fishing to large Brooke Trout.
The trout were unreal. The scenery was breath taking. We had the place to ourselves for 3 days. The fishing was surreal! I loaded up two rods. I made casts on top and watched the water errupt. Stripping Calibaetis Emergers with the other stick, the fishies couldn't resist.
It was great hanging out around a fire, sharing experiences and bouncing feedback off a friend and photographer. Brett threw down on this trip... "Take No Prisoners". The images he captured behind the lens are some of the best I have seen. Be sure to check out his write up on www.flytowater.com
I still can't get over the "Fins of Fire"!
The Release...
